The essential answers before you enter the studio.
Quick answers
Important before application.
Please read the following information before completing the application form. Edition-specific dates, fees and conditions are published separately under Practical Information.
Who can apply?
ART of - Madrid Ballet Intensive is designed for advanced students aged 14+, pre-professional dancers and professional dancers. Professional observers may apply for the Observation Classes.
Can a professional dancer attend for only one week?
Yes. Professional status and attendance period are separate choices. Professional dancers may apply for one week or for the complete two-week intensive.
What are Observation Classes?
Observation Classes offer methodology-focused professional development for ballet teachers, pedagogues, rehearsal directors, professional dancers developing a teaching practice and relevant movement or dance specialists.
Are Observation Classes only passive attendance?
No. Applicants describe their professional background and objectives so that their observation can focus on class structure, exercise development, corrections, musicality, communication and adaptation for different levels.
Which photographs are required?
Applicants should submit one clear portrait photograph and two full-body dance photographs in appropriate dance attire. The application form displays the accepted formats and previews the selected files before submission.
Is an audition video required?
A 5–10 minute audition video is optional for a regular application unless ART of requests it during the evaluation. Scholarship applicants must provide the artistic material specified on the Scholarship page.
What should an audition video show?
The dancer’s full body should remain clearly visible. The video may include barre work, centre practice and a short classical or contemporary variation. Female applicants at an appropriate advanced or pre-professional level should also demonstrate pointe work.
How much is the application fee?
The application fee is EUR 40 plus any applicable PayPal transaction fee. It is paid after the secure application form confirms successful receipt. The application fee is separate from course tuition and is non-refundable except where mandatory law requires otherwise.
Does payment of the application fee confirm admission?
No. Payment confirms neither admission nor a scholarship. ART of reviews the submitted information and artistic material and sends every admission decision in writing.
When does ART of Madrid take place?
The current ART of - Madrid Ballet Summer Intensive is scheduled for 12–24 July 2027. Any edition-specific change will be published on the Practical Information page.
When will the faculty and repertoire be announced?
Teachers, repertoire and collaborations are announced only after written confirmation for the relevant edition. This prevents provisional or outdated information from being presented as final.
Is accommodation included?
Accommodation is not included unless the current edition explicitly offers an accommodation package. Participants should wait for the confirmed venue information before booking non-refundable accommodation.
Can participants under 18 attend?
Yes. A parent or legal guardian must provide the required consent and remains responsible for travel, accommodation and supervision outside the published course hours.
Are uploaded files protected?
The secure application system accepts only specified image and PDF formats, validates files on the server, assigns random filenames and stores application documents outside the publicly accessible website directory.
When is the final schedule sent?
The detailed schedule is normally sent approximately one week before the intensive, once groups, studios and faculty assignments have been finalised.
Where can I ask an additional question?
Questions concerning ART of - Madrid or an existing application may be sent to madrid@art-of.net.
